The Rock

While Mom and Floyd are here visiting, we decided to make the most of it! We headed to San Fran today, enjoyed a yummy picnic overlooking the bay and Golden Gate Bridge then took a short ferry ride to The Rock (a.k.a. Alcatraz) for an audio tour. Afterwards, we wandered (aimlessly mind you) around Fisherman's Wharf, rode the carousel, watched the sea lions, ate some yummy clam chowder, inevitably bough tourist sweatshirts (LOVE THOSE), spent entirely too much money in the candy shop, and devoured mini doughnuts while dancing to the street performers music. It was a GREAT day!!

The girls, SOOOOOO tired....hung in there. By the time we made it back to the car, both girls eyes were glazed over and they were in "the zone". Needless to say, we were ALL sacked out (minus our loyal driver Jim) before we were completely over the Bay Bridge!

Such a fabulous day! No crowds, no lines, sunny weather, a bit chilly with the breeze but otherwise.....just PERFECT!!

Starting off the fun at Marin Headlands, which is just north of the GG Bridge. BEAUTIFUL!









After walking through a scary tunnel type thing, we ended up on the other side of the mountain looking out past the Bay into the Pacific Ocean with Point Bonita Lighthouse in the far distant tip!









What day wouldn't be complete w/out PP&J's while Floyd ruins the moment on his cell phone! ;-) Aaahhhh.....nature!









And of course, Jim has to show off.....but this time it was the 3rd take. He blamed his "off balance" on the wind. WHATEVER!

This place boasted to have the best food in the penitentiary system at the time. What lucky guys, huh?

I love this picture.....Kaitlin FINALLY gave it up right in the middle of chewing on her teething biscuit! Just like my little angel to pass out "mid-bite" and leave her cookie right next to her. LOVE HER!











Kellyn could have ridden this carousel all night.....after 2 rides we were pealing her away! Hard to believe just 4 months ago she wouldn't have anything to do with these things!!!
