WOW.....I can't believe I haven't blogged since Oct 22nd. Crazy!! I must apologize. It's due to a mixture laziness, exhaustion, procrastination, and just plain no free time in blocks greater than 5 minutes. Now that all my excuses are out on the table.....let's get started!
Thursday, Oct 25th, our morning started off with a knock on the door from the UPS guy (and of course, many many barks and growls from Xena - she just HATES those guys) bearing the much anticipated Halloween package from Grandma and Grandpa (Jim's parents). Kellyn knew exactly what to do and proceeded to try and pry the box open with her bare hands!
Inside, she found 2 pumpkin buckets LOADED with yummy raisins and various organic treats, along with a slew of new books. Are these girls spoiled or what?
Needless to say, Kellyn took over the gift while poor Kaitlin clamored around for something to chew on. This is just the beginning!

Later that day, since it was unbelievably beautiful outside, Jim and I decided to take the girls to a very popular local pumpkin patch farm that is one of the most kid friendly places I've ever been. It was like a theme park! Crazy fun! I was just hoping to get a little hayride in, come home with a few pumpkins....that's it!

Kellyn freaked out of the hayride at first, but once snuggled into Jim's lap, she became MUCH more courageous. Go figure!
The pumpkins were pretty picked through, but Kellyn found one just the perfect size for her!
Hmmmm....this will come back to haunt both parties years from now! :-)

But this place blew me away. They had a petting zoo that was set up like an old ghost town and all the animals lived in certain buildings, fancying fun names like "boss hog" and "wylie goat".
This was the sheep house. Kellyn kept saying "Lambie" after her beloved lovey.

Took a while for Kellyn to get the hang of keeping her hand open. There were some frustrated goats for a while there.
Jim was obviously VERY popular at this point.
Then on top of the hayride, they had a full on open-air train that covered their vast acreage which they had local businesses sponsor theme style Halloween spots decorated with pumpkins and hay bails to view during the ride.

Then on top of THAT, they had pig races and 3 different jungle gym meccas with some VERY cool slides. One was even so big, Kellyn couldn't go down it (much to her disappointment) until she's 2 years old. Next year!! Boy, Kaitlin won't like that but oh well!
