First of all, we were lucky to share our day today with 2 very special people. My childhood friend Julie (more like sister than anything) and her husband Nate were in San Fran for a conference and made the drive up to the homestead for a visit. This was their first chance to meet all the "little" people in their lives (except Tryg who was VERY young at their wedding).
And on top of that....they came bearing gifts. First the blue little bag......the the blue little box with markings only a female could love. Tiffany and Co!!!! YEAH!! And inside that little box was the most beautiful sterling silver necklace with a pendant that represents the 2 new loves in my life......represented with a simple "k". It was just perfect and just about brought tears to my eyes. I just love it and will wear it every day!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Starting off our visit at a local coffee shop (while the girls and Jim napped) seemed like the right thing to do.Afterwards, we visited my brother's new office. Julie's dad (Uncle Elvin) was such an inspiration for my brothers quest in medicine.......someone very dear to him (and all of us).
And yes.....that's a collection of Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks "bobbleheads" in the center of my brothers desk. He's what we call a bit of a GEEK!!!! :-)
We ended the evening at Chris and Lisa's for some yummy spaghetti, which brought back many more memories of growing up with Julie. Her mom (we call her Aunt Marie) is Italian and kept our bellies full of a variety of pasta dishes with homemade marinara sauce from tomatoes from their garden. Jar stuff just isn't the same but it's all we simple people have!! :-)
Julie and Nate with our evening "centerpiece". That's sweet potatoes all over her face (Kaitlin's that is). :-)
Lisa in her glory!!
The two little munchkins, soon to be two little troublemakers!!!
Believe it or not......Jim is under that mass of pillows and beanbags. Kellyn's trying her best to help fish him out! Those kids just love him!!
