Update

Cheryl asked me (Jim) to update everyone on her progress and to make sure everyone knew that it was not her writing this post.

Anyway, Cheryl had a successful surgery and is now recovering at home. Cheryl had two displaced fractures of the right eye socket and a very flat right cheek bone (medical terminology). The fractures to the eye sockets did not display any symptoms and were only slightly displaced. They did not require any attention. However, after 2 1/2 hours of surgery my wife once again has a round face.

The surgeon made two incisions, one through the hair line and one through the inside of her mouth, and realigned the fracture. The fracture will take 5-6 weeks to heal and Cheryl has to be very careful not to bump it in any way. Cheryl will be wearing a guard on her right cheek. Stay tuned for pictures. Cheryl also has to be on a "soft diet" and can't wash her hair or face for a week to prevent infections.

The surgeon told Cheryl that she should be out of work for 7-10 days and that she should be feeling herself in about 2 weeks. So except for looking and smelling a little funny Cheryl will be fine.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, phone calls, and e-mails.
