Well, this past week has been a difficult one. My co-worker (and good friend) said that her husband had not been feeling well over the past several weeks. He finally walked himself in the ER thinking he had an ulcer or something only to never leave. He had full blown liver cancer at 41 years old, had internal bleeding and couldn't be stabilized enough for surgery and died less than 2 weeks later. His memorial service was this weekend and my heart goes out to her and her family. They have 2 young daughters (8 and 10) and I can't begin to imagine the heartache she's feeling right now.
She has demonstrated such strength and resolve (perhaps it's shock) during this whole tragedy that she was actually comforting ME at his viewing.....who was balling like a baby! What an amazing woman, despite her fear and sorrow. How horrible it must be to have you husband, soul mate and best friend take himself to the hospital never to return. It's just heartbreaking. For those of you who pray, please say and extra prayer for her and their children!
At the same time during all of this, I learn that my very wonderful friend (and author of The Painted House) Angela's husband has also been diagnosed with Cancer. He's fortunate in the sense that they found it early in life and are able to treat with Chemo/Radiation. However, the fear and uncertainty are ever consuming their life and family of 3 small children. Of course, Angela has attacked this "beast" with everything she's got and has turned her house into a vegan, juicing mecca........along with inspiring others to make a pledge for a lifestyle change in support for Clayton!
There are people everyday faced with tragedy and loss that seems impossible to understand, much less comprehend. Please be generous and frequent with your prayers........even if you don't know who or what you're even praying for!!!!

Thank you, Cheryl, for lifting us up here. We would certainly appreciate ALL prayers said on our behalf. The prayers already have been a huge support. Thank you!
I'm sorry...I got caught up in myself there and forgot to offer my condolences to your coworker. That is so sad and tragic. I will keep that family in my prayers.
Listen to you with your apologies.....you have enough on your plate right now (granted, no dairy of course). :-) Just keep those whole grains/veggies coming and get that hubby of yours healed!!! ;-)
Cancer is horribly scary and heard of way to much these days! My prayers are with your friends. :)
